An Immersion into the Teachings of Yogamaster T. Krishnamacharya

  • Beyoga Silurveien Oslo, Norway

Tirumalai Krishnamacharya is known worldwide as the father of modern Yoga. He was a master Yogi with a vast and profound knowledge of all the tools of Yoga, the ways how Yoga can help us reconnect to our higher self as well as the many options in which Yoga as a form of therapy can help us heal physical diseases as well as cure emotional problems and mental imbalances. Krishnamacharya spent his life teaching and transmitting his knowledge as well as healing many students from the diverse ailments that they came with.

Krishnamacharya’s Yoga tradition, represented by the Krishnamacharya Healing and Yoga Foundation (www.khyf.net) emphasises the concept of self empowerment and personal expression in the journey of wellbeing, healing and transformation and is therefore still always taught one-to-one. This is mainly because each of us human beings is uniquely different, and also constantly changing all the time. And no one knows better about us, than ourselves. This becomes a key concept in the understanding and practice of yoga as a uniquely personal process.

The most important tools used in the tradition of T Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar include (but are not limited to) the following : postures (asana), breath regulation (pranayama), meditation (dhyanam), dietary recommendations (ahaha niyama), lifestyle suggestions (vihara niyama), chanting (mantra), visualisations / affirmations (bhavana), special energetic seals (mudra), symbolic gestures (nyasa) and guided self-inquiry (svadhyaya).  If we want to understand Yoga how it was perceived by the Yogis of the past, we must therefore gain knowledge about all the different tools of Yoga.

In this inspiring seminar, taught by Dr. Kausthub Desikachar, you will dive deeply into the teachings of Krishnamacharya including:

The Principal Frameworks of the Yoga of T Krishnamacharya
Asanas and Bandhas
Pranayama and Mudras
Mantra and Meditation
Yoga Therapy

It will be open to all, and will be particularly suitable for those who wish to journey to the core of yoga’s philosophical roots, and its practical implementation in daily practice. It will also be invaluable to those who are considering to delve into the authentic teachings of Yogacharya T Krishnamacharya.
